Tonight It Begins. Game 1

Cavs 91
Spurs 85

LeBron gets straight FUNKY with 31, 11 rebounds and 12 assists. He sends an early message to Bruce Bowen that this series is going to be hell for Bruce.

Sasha plays well, 14 points and solid defense. Z has 13, 11, and Gooden makes things difficult for Duncan.

The Spurs are a little rusty from the week off, and the Cavs catch them sleeping for the only time all series.

initial thoughts after watching that spirited push by the Cavs:

1. The Spurs did an incredible job keeping King's momentum moving away from the bucket. Notice after every screen set on the arc, the big man would push through the screen and lunge toward James. King would have to backpeddle and the pick and roll was busted. On a few occasions, excepting a sweet rope to the big Fuzz, the Spurs took advantage and got the steal or forced James to take an off-balance J. While at times James obviously struggled against the Pistons, I often thought it was more him than some genius Detroit strategy. Tonight, you've got to credit the Spurs strategy as the reason King struggled immensely.

2. The Spurs have too many weapons, all of whom took advantage of space tonight

3. Why not try E Snow on Tiny Parker (the cousin of Tiny Elvis)?

4. Where the _hell_ was Z? I'm sorry, but I can't watch Duncan get another offensive rebound and casually lay in the putback.

5. Why do we always wait until the 3rd/4th to get Gibson involved? He is the one guy who can stretch the D at this point, and it doesn;t seem like he's going to stop making triples anytime soon. And how about his takes to the rack? Impressive.
